BUG REPELLENT

I really don't understand her.

Sometimes she suddenly walks up to me and takes me in a warm hug. Which is totally fine with me, except she bites. And everytime when she moves away and I rub yet another sore spot in my neck, she simply smirks, gives a wink and claims it's an insect repellent.

Next thing I know, she's skidding off to hang onto her boyfriends' arm and I'm left confused. Why does she do these things? I do not understand. Then when a guy comes to sit next to me, their friendly smile soon dissapears as they notice my neck and are gone before I know it.

Sometimes, when I'm reading a book while lying on the couch, she suddenly jumps on top of me, crushing my book between our breasts, usually also the hand with which I held the book. There I lie, trapped under her bodyweight and staring startled up at her face.

I usually ask if I can help her with something. She'll smile and say either yes or nothing and remains lying on me. It is uncomfortable to be weighted down like that, yet I've grown used to it. It's just one of her odd quirks. After a short while she gets bored with it anyway. She'll deposit a quick kiss on my mouth and if gone, leaving me to try breathing normally again, without a weight pressing down on my lungs.

When we are with friends watching a movie, the couches are full so I'll try to sit on the floor. I don't mind it much, I actually like sitting there with my back against the couch. But she'll grab my hand and pull me up, claiming the floor is too hard.

Before I know it, I'm on the couch lying in between her legs with my back against her chest and my head on her shoulder. I suppose she enjoys holding something while watching tv. I do wonder why another friend of mine was glancing longing at her on the couch, claiming she wanted to lie in her arms too.

She claimed rather jealously that she'd probably rather have me there instead of her. I frowned and gave her a push towards her desired spot and told her to just go there. She'd probably be happy to have anyone in her arms to hold, it didn't have to be me.

Often when I'm with friends, my mind drifts off. I'll wonder about the large things in life, ponder on if I'm happy with what I have and think about what I still desire. Will I ever have a job I enjoy like he? Shall I ever be as happy in love as they? What about my own place in the world?

Pretty soon, those thoughts are chased away as I see her doing yet another crazy antic. She lives for entertaining others. She enjoys being in the spotlight. She does have that natural attraction about her that seems to draw people in. It makes me laugh. I wish I could enjoy life as much as she did.

She turns around, while joking with someone, and the look on her face shifts. It's odd but so far I've only seen it directed to me when she is about to do something odd again. My body freezes immidiately, anticipating her next action and I don't have to wait long.

Only seconds later her body slams hard into mine, in the fake illusion of an over-the-top-hug and I fall backwards onto the ground. The grass is long, but it still hurts as my shoulders and head hit the ground. For a moment I see darkness with multicolored dots drifting past my view, is that what people call 'seeing stars?'

Then sight returns to me again and I stare into her worried eyes. Perhaps this was not what she had wanted to do. But as I blink and give her a small smile to say I'm okay, relieve floods her face. Then she leans forward and yet again I am graced by her with a kiss, though this one is way longer than any other time.

She jumps up and pulls me along. I wonder why our other friends never comment on the fact that she takes her enjoyment out of kissing others, mostly me. Perhaps we all got used to it. Same goes for her tendency to mar my skin with love bites.

Yet when I say that she should do that to her boyfriend of the week, she only smirks and winks saying she enjoys practicing it on me. I shrug and let it go. I suppose it's not up to me to point out that she probably does not need anymore practise with all the people she'd been with so far.

Truely, I don't understand her, but I guess it's alright.

The world should keep at least some mysteries.
Summary: A female friend of mine is a strange one, specially when it comes to me. I do not understand her behavior, specially when you take into concideration that she has a boyfriend and yet acts so strangely towards a girl like me. I wonder if I'll ever find out

Haha you get a real feel for both characters in this piece and it's brilliant. Just to see how quirky the other character is whilst the main character just has to guess.
I know its related to real life situations but sometimes people cannot get it in right but you've done it :D
